Final Briefs

Brief 1 - Illuminated Type.
Produce a set of three lamps using typography as a theme that could be expanded into a whole range. Using paper cut typography, create a series of lamps that generate silhouettes in an interesting and fun way.

Brief 2 - Headline.
Produce a visual interpretation of a headline from a newspaper story. It could be political or humorous, typographic or illustrative or all of the above.

Brief 3 - Don't be a mug!
Design and create a series of three mugs based on the idea of tea and its associations using typography. Using paper cut typography, create a series of mug designs that play around with associations of tea and its audience in an interesting and fun way.

Brief 4 - Red, Green & Blue.
Create a small publication that focuses on the colour blue. A zine aesthetic would be appropriate as it would link with my dissertation topic and it should include typography and imagery to represent facts and interesting things about the colour blue.

Brief 5 - Guardian Fairy tale Booklet.
Create a set of illustrations appropriate for a series of fairy tales that the guardian newspaper’s will give out with the newspaper and place these in a booklet. Use hand drawn illustration, paper cuts and illustrator to generate appropriate imagery for the chosen fairy tales and create a suitably sized booklet with an informed choice of stock. Use the Grimm Brothers fairy stories.

Brief 6 - Anorak – the happy mag for kids.
Create something that is fun, happy and friendly that will appeal to kids and adults alike. A mixture of hand drawn typography and illustration would appeal to the target audience, as well as detailed patterns and random doodle style illustrations. Experiment with hand drawn typography, repeat pattern and bold colours.
